Bahama Sands Luxury Condominiums
1321 S Ocean Blvd

A 90-room oceanfront condo property built in 2008, Bahama Sands Luxury Condominiums is a mid-range family-friendly property in North Myrtle Beach. Privately owned, the condos can vary greatly from one another, and it's a good idea to request photos before booking. Most units have kitchenettes with cookware, tableware, glassware, and utensils, and can accommodate large groups of people. While the beach is the main draw, there are a variety of pools, including an oceanfront heated pool, a lazy river, and a seasonal indoor heated pool, and water activities for both kids and adults. The Waikiki Village is another budget-friendly option, but the beach is across the street.

Beach Cove Resort
4800 S Ocean Blvd

Beach Cove Resort is the kind of place travelers book when they're not too interested in venturing far from the resort. Located in North Myrtle Beach, the oceanfront resort isn't in the thick of the Myrtle Beach action. But if seclusion is what's sought, the Beach Cove Resort is a good option. The U-shape of the resort keeps it secluded, and the 320 ocean-facing rooms invite sea breezes instead of street traffic noise. With lots to do at Beach Cove Resort -- including several pools and a lively beach bar -- there's enough here for visitors who seek a low-key Myrtle Beach vacation. For those who do want to explore off property, it's a seven-minute drive to the shops and restaurants at Barefoot Landing.

Crown Reef Beach Resort and Waterpark
2918 S Ocean Boulevard

Crown Reef Beach Resort and Waterpark is a mid-range oceanfront property with extra family-style amenities like two waterslides, a lazy river, and an indoor splash area. The hotel’s 514 rooms have balconies with ocean views, but some furnishings are dated. Restaurants include a beach shack, an ice cream shop, and a coffee bar, all of which were added in 2014. The property can get crowded at times, which can make it difficult to secure a lounge chair or get a parking spot. Guests may want to compare rates with the similarly priced Breakers Resort which offers one-, two-, and three-bedroom rooms with kitchenettes and access to a lazy river and a children’s pool with a pirate ship play structure.

DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Myrtle Beach Oceanfront
3200 South Ocean Boulevard

The Springmaid Beach Resort is a 485-room, mid-range property located south of the SkyWheel and the main tourist area on Myrtle Beach, offering a little more privacy and seclusion than other hotels. Business travelers can rely on the resort’s large conference center while multiple pools, two eateries, and a location right on the beach make Springmaid ideal for families. Rooms are modern, particularly for Myrtle Beach -- no tacky patterned bedding here.

Cabana Shores Inn, BW Premier Collection
5701 N Ocean Blvd

In the quieter northern stretch of Myrtle Beach, Cabana Shores Hotel is a value property with 74 rooms and suites, including some with full kitchens, located directly across the road from the beach. All rooms feature private balconies -- and some offer beautiful ocean views -- as well as mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers,TVs (flat-screen or tube-style), and free Wi-Fi. The hotel also has an outdoor pool area with lounge chairs and umbrella tables, and an inside hospitality room with a dartboard and pool table. The property, however, with its outdated furnishings and bedding, has an "old" feel about it, and guests have complained about musty smells and stained carpeting. Guests might want to consider the (often) similarly priced Best Western Plus Grand Strand Inn & Suites -- a 16-minute drive south of Cabana Shores -- which offers a free breakfast buffet and an outdoor barbecue area.

Ocean Reef Resort
7100 North Ocean Boulevard

Ocean Reef Resort is a mid-range resort with a beachfront location in Myrtle Beach that offers about the same experience to what you find at most other family-friendly hotels in the city. There are multiple indoor and outdoor water features like pools and a water park, plus a few dining options with varying hours and a paid hot breakfast buffet. A seasonal kids’ club and game room are just two of the many kid-friendly perks. The 342 units vary from rooms to condos with dated decor and reports of cleanliness and maintenance issues. Still, they offer mini-fridges and microwaves or kitchens. Expect to pay a daily resort fee. At a 14-minute drive from the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade, it might be worth considering Camelot by the Sea, Oceana Resorts which has similar features and is a 10-minute walk from the main drag.

Zero George Street
0 George St

Perfect for a romantic getaway, Zero George Street is an upscale boutique hotel near Charleston’s Historic District made up of five historic buildings surrounding a picturesque courtyard. The 18 rooms are stylishly appointed with chic furnishings and soft, creamy colors. Foodies are drawn by the culinary offerings which include a renowned restaurant that serves seasonal and local fare as well as a cooking school offering various classes; there's also a delicious free homemade breakfast that includes quiches, granola, and biscuits. Rates can get pretty steep during busy seasons, however, and guests might want to compare rates with The Restoration on King, an upscale hotel with a roof terrace and spacious rooms.

The Breakers Resort
2006 N Ocean Blvd

Located on the beach, the two-and-a-half pearl Breakers Resort has beachy one-, two-, and three-bedroom condos and suites with kitchenettes, located across seven different towers. Facilities include a fitness center, several indoor and outdoor water parks, a lazy river and a pirate ship-themed children’s pool. Standard Rooms have chain decor and come with flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and light-wood furniture while Executive Rooms have perks such as mini-fridges, microwaves, and wet bars. Parking, Wi-Fi, and hot breakfast are free and there's a seasonal pool, a small fitness room, and a big business center. While rooms are pleasant enough, there have been past complaints of noise in rooms, primarily emanating from the hallways.

Grand Atlantic Ocean Resort
2007 S Ocean Blvd

The Grand Atlantic Ocean Resort is a mid-range, beachfront hotel with 133 rooms, some of which are privately owned condos. It’s a good pick for large groups, since four-bedroom units can sleep up to 16 guests. Rooms come with helpful amenities like washers and dryers and each bedroom has a TV with a DVD player. There are multiple pools and a fitness center, though the on-site restaurant and convenience store shut during the low season. Guests willing to spend a little more may want to check out Breakers Resort which offers one-, two-, and three-bedroom rooms with kitchenettes and access to a lazy river and a pirate-ship children’s pool.
