Hotel Grand Victorian
2325 West Highway 76

The Hotel Grand Victorian is a clean value hotel on Branson's main road, within walking distance of attractions, shops, and restaurants. Thanks to its floral-patterned, Victorian-inspired decor, much of the hotel has a cozy feel, although bright-pink accent walls in rooms are a tad shocking. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, with extra seating space, and some have balconies and jetted tubs, but the overall design is a bit dated and worn. There are numerous amenities, though, which make Hotel Grand popular with families; they include indoor and outdoor saltwater pools, a game room, free breakfast, and 24-hour fitness and business centers. Small pets are welcome for a fee.

Savannah House Hotel
165 Expressway Ln

The Savannah House Hotel is a value hotel located in a quiet area of Branson, but still within a five- or 10-minute drive of area attractions. Its 159 rooms and suites are generic and dated but clean and comfortable overall. Each is outfitted with traditional furniture and flat-screen TVs. Two-room suites are more spacious and some have whirlpool bathtubs. The hotel distinguishes itself by providing a free breakfast of hot and cold items in the mornings and cobbler, ice cream, and cookies at night. Two outdoor swimming pools and a later-than-usual checkout time make this a relaxing, budget choice. The entrance of the hotel has Adirondack chairs set up to look out over the Ozarks, but most views from the rooms are of the concrete parking lot.

Lynina Inn
2772 Shepherd of the Hills Expy

The 51-room Lynina Inn is a budget motel in Branson, just a five-minute drive from the main strip. The motel's owner, Ginger, takes great care to ensure the consistently good reviews from guests by accommodating specific needs. In addition to the small outdoor swimming pool, free breakfast is a nice perk and includes both hot and cold items. Rooms are dated but clean and have flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and mini-fridges. Free Wi-Fi and parking add to its value. Overall, this is a nice pick for families on a budget: kids 12 and under stay for free.

The Raphael Hotel, Autograph Collection
325 Ward Pkwy

The Raphael Hotel, Autograph Collection, is an historic, luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Kansas City's well-heeled Plaza neighborhood. The 1920s building has been beautifully maintained and elegantly furnished from the common areas to the rooms, the latter of which are all suites, furnished with granite countertops, Keurig coffee machines, and iPod docks. Chaz on the Plaza, the on-site restaurant, is a high-end favorite in the city and serves modern American regional cuisine amid white tablecloths and leather booths. The hotel has a modern gym, free valet parking, 24-hour room service, free Wi-Fi, and plenty of meeting and event space. The location is exceptional, just steps from Country Club Plaza, but you'll want a car to explore the rest of the city. This hotel and its restaurant may be pricey, but they have a lot to offer -- albeit no pool or spa -- in a great location.

Hampton Inn & Suites St. Louis/South I-55
4200 Mid America Ln

The 92-room, mid-range Hampton Inn & Suites St. Louis/South I-55 provides an excellent value for travelers who don't mind being away from the action. Downtown St. Louis and most attractions are about 15 minutes away by car. Rooms are modern and homey, with conveniences like microwaves, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers. An expansive breakfast is free, as are parking and Wi-Fi. The indoor pool and hot tub are nice perks, and there are rooms for working, working out, and doing the laundry. Its sister hotel, the Hampton Inn - St. Louis Downtown at the Gateway Arch has a better location, but it's not as nice and rates are higher.

Branson Towers Hotel
236 Shepherd of the Hills Expy

The Branson Towers Hotel sits away from 76 Country Boulevard in Branson, but it's still within walking distance of the town's attractions and restaurants. To get to the main entertainment district, it’s under a 10-minute drive, but that means you need a rental car to get to most tourist areas. Although the hotel’s lobby is large and includes features such as a big staircase and fireplace, the decor is generic and the carpets are old. Throughout the hotel, guests note that carpets have stains and there's often a smell of cigarettes wafting through. Room decorations are bland and basically void of color. Free Wi-Fi, parking, and a hot and cold breakfast are offered, and an indoor pool and hot tub, game room, and business center are additional perks. The breakfast area may be crowded in the morning and some rooms suffer from loud street noise.

The Elms Hotel and Spa
401 Regent St

The historic Elms Hotel & Spa -- a turn-of-the-century hot springs retreat that has been lovingly restored -- sits on 16 manicured acres in the Excelsior Springs historic downtown area, within walking distance of attractions, shops, and restaurants. Rooms are modern with elegant, vintage-inspired styling, as well as a good amount of space, marble-and-tile bathrooms, and iPod docks; there are no tubs in any rooms, however. In keeping with the hotel's history, the spa is a highlight here, and comes complete with a steam room, sauna, grotto hot tub, and lap pool, in addition to a wealth of services. There are three high-quality restaurants and an outdoor pool, too. The hotel also has free Wi-Fi, 24-hour room service, and a 24-hour fitness center. Pets are welcome for a daily fee, and there is a fee for valet parking. This hotel hosts a lot of weddings and some guests complain of reception noise late into the night.

Best Western Center Pointe Inn
3215 West Highway 76

The Best Western Center Pointe Inn sits in the prime entertainment area of Branson, with shops, restaurants, and attractions all within walking distance. There are an indoor pool and outdoor pool, both with hot tubs (though they have no views), in addition to a gym, business center, and game room. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, though the signal may be an issue for some. Although there is no on-site restaurant or bar, the hotel shares a parking lot with Montana Mike’s Steakhouse and offers a free breakfast with hot and cold items. Some rooms have microwaves, mini-fridges, and jetted tubs, while others have enough space for large families. The overall decor is mundane, but fits the Best Western brand standards, and the entire hotel is extremely clean.

Comfort Inn at Thousand Hills
203 S Wildwood Dr

The Comfort Inn at Thousand Hills is a budget hotel just off 76 in Branson, but its modern style and cleanliness make it seem like rates would be higher than they generally are. A large, lodge-inspired lobby has lots of comfortable seating and the breakfast area is contemporary, though small and crowded on weekends. Many major sights are within walking distance, but a rental car is necessary to truly explore the area. Rooms are decorated in chain-standard style and basic colors, but they're clean and have tiled bathrooms with granite countertops. Some bathrooms are small, though, and other rooms suffer exterior noise. There's also a fitness center, indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna, as well as free Wi-Fi and an extensive, free hot breakfast.

Holiday Inn Express Branson - Green Mountain Drive
2801 Green Mountain Dr

The Holiday Inn Express Branson-Green Mountain Drive is a simple, modern, eco-friendly hotel located within walking distance of both downtown Branson and local attractions and restaurants. The busy street and traffic may be an issue, though. Room design features standard chain fare (with flat-screen TVs, microwaves, and mini-fridges), but the lobby is surprisingly attractive with artistic light fixtures and a dark wood and marble front desk. Some rooms are large with walk-in showers and jetted tubs, while others lack bathroom and counter space. There is free Wi-Fi and a free breakfast that gets good reviews, along with helpful concierge services and a 24-hour game room. The pool, hot tub, and steam room are open late and are popular with families.
