Limak Limra Hotel & Resort
Sahil Cd. Kiris Mh. No: 11

Located on a long, sandy beach south of Kemer, the 820-room, upper-middle-range Limak Limra Hotel is a good value for families wanting a bustling vacation. The entertainment program offers activities for all ages -- from arts and crafts and sports for kids to pool games and DJ sessions for adults -- and the main pool is huge and loud, with music and a water park in the middle. Food gets good reviews for variety and taste, and the Ultra All-inclusive package covers some imported drinks (only in the summer). The spa has an upmarket feel with Asian-inspired decor, and offers a long list of body treatments, a pleasant hammam, and sauna. Rooms, though simple, are well-equipped and spacious, featuring free Wi-Fi, free minibars (replenished daily), and balconies, some with sea views. For a slightly more upscale pick, consider Akka Atendon Hotel.

Papillon Zeugma Relaxury
Ileribasi Mevkii

The Papillon Zeugma Relaxury is a luxury property with a private stretch of beach, good food, and beautiful indoor and outdoor pools. Its 362 rooms are elegant and stylish, with a chic brown and teal palette, wood floors, and great amenities such as free minibars (refilled daily free of charge), sleek walk-in rain showers, and electric blackout blinds. The gorgeous, high-end spa offers dozens of treatments -- including some for kids -- as well as free access to a marble hammam, a sauna, and a steam room. The buffet restaurant serves an excellent spread for all three meals during the summer, but there have been complaints of limited choices in the off-peak season. Golfers may want to consider the Gloria Serenity Resort, which has three on-site courses.

Crystal Green Bay Resort Spa
Kuyucak Mevkii, Meselik Koyu

The Crystal Green Bay Resort is a three-pearl, all-inclusive hotel set on a small pine forest valley overlooking a long private beach and picturesque bay. The range of leisure facilities are outstanding -- water sports, freshwater and saltwater swimming pools, waterslides, a spa, a cinema, and a kids' club are all available. However, dining options are limited to a main buffet eatery and an a la carte restaurant that guests can visit once per week. Although many of the 291 rooms have sea views, some are on the small side and decor is rather uninspiring. Nonetheless, this is without doubt one of the standout properties in the area, though it's worth comparing rates with Club Izer Beach Hotel, which has similar amenities and more attractive rooms.

Eftalia Holiday Village
Turkler Kasabani

The 425-room Eftalia Holiday Village is a bustling upper-middle-range all-inclusive with budget-friendly rates. The vast majority of rooms are clean and contemporary, with flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, minibars stocked with free water and juice, and nice rain showers. Non-renovated units, though, feature plain, dated decor and may have some maintenance issues. There are four pools on-site -- including an adult-only one, a water park with slides, and a small indoor pool with a kiddy section -- and a buffet restaurant serving average food. Additionally, all guests get free access to Eftalia Island, a huge beachfront entertainment complex located across the highway and complete with a dozen other pools, many dining options, and a lively entertainment program. For the price, the Eftalia Holiday Village is a good pick for an active family vacation, but those looking for something more upscale may want to compare rates at the Annabella Diamond Hotel & Spa.

Limak Lara De Luxe Hotel&Resort
Kemeragzi Mevki P.K. 34

The 441-room Limak Lara De Luxe is a large, upscale all-inclusive resort with huge pools and access to a sandy beach, complete with a two-tier pier, many loungers, serviced cabanas (for a fee), and a playground. Rooms at this family-friendly hotel are spacious and well-equipped, with Japanese-inspired decor, free minibars, free Wi-Fi, and electric kettles. Food generally gets good reviews, but some guests have complained that the staff seems overwhelmed during peak season, which can result in sloppy service. Kids and adults are kept busy during the day with a wide array of activities and games, and there are quality shows and live music every evening. Couples seeking something a little quieter may prefer the IC Hotels Green Palace.

Orka Sunlife Hotel
Guzgulu Mevkii No: 7/4

This sprawling upscale resort is scenically set on a hilltop that offers picturesque views of the sea and coastline, while the beach is an eight-minute drive away (and the hotel offers free shuttle service). The 195 guest rooms are clean and well equipped with mod cons, while suites add extras like whirlpool tubs. An array of features and activities makes for a fun-filled vacation -- there are several outdoor pools, including one with waterslides, as well as a kids' club and day and evening entertainment. Travelers looking to relax can make use of the spa. There are four restaurants and bars on-site, including both buffet and a la carte dining with restrictive all-inclusive options. For something right on the beach, check out Club Belcekiz Beach Hotel.

World Heritage Hotel Istanbul
Binbirdirek Mahallesi Terzihane Sokak No 17 Oldcity Sultanahmet

A low-key, mid-range property, the World Heritage Hotel Istanbul is located in Sultanahmet Square, within walking distance of top tourist attractions. Its 20 rooms have pleasant, elegant decor, free minibars, and beds routinely described by guests as "very comfortable" -- but bathrooms are tiny and can feel cramped. The hotel serves a free breakfast, including its highly touted omelets, in a rooftop dining room or terrace with views of the city. This family-run property has an intimate aura that's more like a guesthouse than a hotel. Free tea and coffee is offered upon arrival and an array of free cakes and cookies is available in the afternoons. But it's worth comparison shopping as there are many similar properties in the area, such as The Constantine Hotel, which some travelers may find more stylish.

DoubleTree by Hilton Istanbul Old Town
Ordu Cad. No 31, Beyazit Mah.

A four-pearl hotel with 171 rooms spread over five floors, the Doubletree by Hilton Istanbul - Old Town has clean-lined and contemporary architectural themes, dramatic panoramic views, and a central Old Town location, making it a convenient and stylish pick. The property's sleek, minimalist design pairs with perks like babysitting services and free welcome cookies for a welcoming, familiar atmosphere. Beyond the sunny rooms, the most appealing feature is the panoramic view from the rooftop terrace restaurant; other dining options include the chic Old Town Restaurant and the Lobby Lounge and Bar, as well as the 24-hour room service. The tram stop is right outside the entrance, taking you to the top sights of Sultanahmet in minutes.

Hotel Amira Istanbul
Kucuk Ayasofya Mah. Mustafapasa Sok. No 43

This 32-room, upper-middle-range boutique hotel is one of the most popular options in the Old City, and stands out for its central location, personal family-run atmosphere, excellent free breakfast, and stylish rooms. It is a five-minute walk to the Blue Mosque, and within a 15-minute walk of all the major attractions in Sultanahmet. The standard rooms are a bit on the small side, and few rooms in any category have balconies or views – though there’s a fine panorama overlooking the Marmara Sea from the rooftop terrace. Otherwise, the hotel has little in the way of public areas or entertainment features. The mobile Wi-Fi routers on free loan to all guests are a nice touch to aid in visitors’ explorations of the city. In intimacy and charm, it's comparable to the nearby Hotel Ibrahim Pasha, but with larger rooms.

Corinne Hotel
Turnacibasi Cad. Ayhan Isik Sokak No 41, Beyoglu

The 39-room Corinne Hotel is a three-and-a-half-pearl historic boutique hotel. It's located in the Taksim area, close to Istiklal Street and within walking distance of numerous restaurants, shops, and bars. Rooms are elegant, with many period details. They're also equipped with modern conveniences such as flat-screen TVs, minibars, and laptop-sized safes, with Nespresso machines in some rooms. Some also have jetted tubs and balconies. The funky, boho restaurant serves excellent Turkish and Mediterranean fare, and the rooftop garden terrace has spectacular city views. It's a bit removed from the historic Sultanhamet area, but public transport abounds in Taksim Square, less than 10 minutes about the hotel on foot. There are many less expensive options in this area, but none has the charm found at the Corinne.
