Akra
Lara Cd. No: 24, Sirinyali Mah.,

The four-pearl Akra Barut is a big, upscale resort with everything needed for a great waterside vacation: several pools, a spa, restaurants, kids’ activities, water sports, and more. The location near Antalya’s old town makes it more central than some of the farther-flung resorts of the region. However, while Akra Barut does have sea access, it does not have a sandy beach -- instead it sits above rocky cliffs. The 471 rooms have beautiful balconies -- many with incredible sea views -- plus amenities like free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Note some are located in a separate building and noise between rooms can be a problem. By comparison, the nearby Delphin Diva Premiere has a sandy beach as well as all-inclusive packages that are great for families and groups.

Chigdem Hotel
11016 Sokak No: 19, Tokoglu Mahallesi

The 10-room Chigdem Hotel is a charming, upscale boutique, quietly located near Alacati's center. Quality trumps quantity in this vintage-adorned property, where stunning local-inspired decor fills the romantic, individually decorated rooms. Minibars, hairdryers, bathrobes, and AC are also provided, though rooms lack tea- and coffee-making facilities and showers are snug. A lounger-surrounded outdoor pool, rooftop bar with panoramic views, and outstanding free breakfasts receive high praise, as do the family owners. Unfortunately, there are no full restaurant or elevators, and travelers here are far from beaches. For somewhere closer to stretches of sand, check out the Alacati Beach Resort.

Ottoman Cave Suites
Avcilar Mahallesi, Ilkokul Sokak No 16

Ottoman Cave Suites is an upper-middle-range, family-owned boutique with sweeping views of Rose Valley and Goreme. Though located in the town center, the stone brick construction, central courtyard, and rustic accents give it a bucolic farmhouse vibe. The 13 spacious rooms and suites have Ottoman-inspired decor, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, and personal routers that allow for free, high-speed Wi-Fi. Other freebies include transport to/from the local bus station, unlimited bottled water (a rare find), parking, and a daily breakfast buffet with seasonal produce. Downsides, however, are that the cave suites are not carved from natural caves and there's no full restaurant on-site. Travelers might prefer the true cave-style Doors Of Cappadocia Hotel, which also has a restaurant and outdoor pool, but more expensive rates.

Ocean Blue High Class Hotel
Ata Caddesi No: 6 Hisaronu, Migros Karsisi

This upper-middle-range hotel offers stylish rooms and solid facilities, though it's a 10-minute drive to the beach and main strip in Oludeniz. The outdoor pool is a standout, plus there are a Turkish bath, spa, and sauna. Stylish air-conditioned rooms are outfitted with flat-screen TVs, minibars, and furnished balconies -- some with steps leading directly into the pool. When hungry, guests have a choice of a main (all-inclusive) or a la carte restaurant. This hotel caters more to adults than children, though that’s not to say kids won’t appreciate the pools and entertainment. Still, families may want to consider the Club Belcekiz Beach Hotel, which has more kid-centric features.

Cactus Mirage Family Club
Tilkicik Koyu

The Cactus Mirage Family Club is a mid-range, all-inclusive complex set in attractive gardens overlooking the Aegean Sea. Its location can feel a little remote and being set on a hillside, guests have to navigate a lot of steps, but the hotel does have its own pleasant beach area and direct access to the sea. Catering to families, the property offers plenty for kids, especially free weekday entry to the neighboring water park. Note, however, that entertainment is in French. Dining options typically earn positive reviews and there's no shortage of loungers at the outdoor swimming pool. The 179 rooms are dated but each has a mini-fridge and balcony, some overlooking the gardens. This is a great pick for families, but couples will likely prefer the upscale boutique 4reasons hotel+bistro, though rates are higher.

Cappadocia Cave Resort & Spa
Tekelli Mah. Goreme Cad. Divanli Sok. No. 83

The luxurious Cappadocia Cave Resort & Spa offers gorgeous panoramic views over Goreme National Park from its hilltop setting, as well as being within walking distance of restaurants and the Uchisar Castle. Besides the views, a standout feature here is the hotel's spa, which has adventure baths, massages, a hammam, and a steam room, and there are also an indoor and outdoor pool. A varied menu is available at the on-site restaurant, plus breakfast is included in rates. The 121 guest rooms feature classic Ottoman decor including stone walls and carved furniture, alongside modern touches such as flat-screen TVs and minibars, but some bathrooms are small and only equipped with stall showers. The nearby Kayakapi Premium Caves - Cappadocia is a comparable property, though its spa facilities aren't as extensive.

Marina Vista Hotel
Neyzen Tevfik Cad No 168

Overlooking a sea of swaying masts in the harbor that's across the street, the upper-middle-range Marina Vista Bodrum offers the kind of setting that appeals to couples and tourists looking to be close to dining and nightlife along the city's seafront promenade. The 92 country-modern rooms feature elegant pastel decor and rainfall showers, though few have views of the waterfront. It has its own trendy cafe and bar with an outdoor patio in front -- it's popular with everyone in town -- along with a secluded courtyard garden that has a pool. On the rooftop, a second seasonal eatery has panoramic views of the marina and the hotel's free breakfast is served here in season. There aren't many competitors along the marina, but the nearby Azka Otel has direct beach access.

St.Nicholas Park Hotel
Hisaronu mah. Bag Tepesi cad. No:12

The 125-room, all-inclusive St Nicholas Park is a mid-range property resting nearly 1,000 feet above sea level on the Turquoise Coast. It stands out from its competition for its fabulous sea views and free shuttle to Oludeniz Beach, plus a variety of family-friendly features. Contemporary rooms have mini-fridges and small balconies or patios, however, many are small with tiny bathrooms. The restaurant, snack bar, and bar receive predominantly positive reviews, though food can get repetitive. Guests are kept busy with three swimming pools, daily entertainment, sports facilities, and a traditional Turkish hammam on-site. Overall, it’s a solid three-pearl option just a 10-minute walk to town, though couples may prefer the more relaxing Pine Hill Hotel & Suites

Neorion Hotel
Orhaniye Street No 14, Sirkeci

The Neorion Hotel is an upscale, boutique-size property with a prime location within minutes' walk of Istanbul's historical center. Although relatively new, the building features traditional Ottoman styling inside and out, including in the decor of its 53 guest rooms. While the spa is impressive for the level of hotel, its the rooftop terrace that really wows with superb views accompanied by free drinks and meze at dusk. Prices are fair for the category (the comparable Hotel Sultania nearby has similar rates), and super-friendly staff and general charm ensures the Neorion remains one of the most popular choices around.

Batihan Beach Resort & Spa
Ilica Mevkii, Long Beach

The three-pearl Batihan Beach Resort & Spa is a large, all-inclusive, family-geared resort set on a private stretch of Kusadasi's Long Beach. Solid animation and entertainment here attract British, European, and Turkish couples and families, and the latter are catered to with endless kiddy fun. Focus is on live action, so decor takes a back seat, and dated or modern interiors manifest throughout restaurants, a spa, and 338 rooms with balconies. The pleasant rooms have mini-fridges with bottled water, kettles, and air-conditioning. Drinking and dining options include buffet spreads and a beachfront restaurant, but prepare for crowds. For somewhere quieter and classier, check out Ilaya Avantgarde Hotel.
