Floridan Palace Hotel
905 N Florida Ave

The mid-range Floridan Palace Hotel is a 1927-built historic hotel in downtown Tampa that was neglected and flagged for demolition until it was saved by a European hotelier in 2005. In 2012, it opened after seven years of extensive renovations that aimed to restore the property to its original grandeur. Guests here will either appreciate the history and restoration or find it a bit too old-fashioned. The 213 spacious rooms have rich color schemes, custom classic furniture, marble vanities, mini-fridges, Keurig coffee machines, and satellite TV. The Crystal Dining Room and lounge-like Sapphire Room are popular spots, plus there are also a lobby bar, meeting space, a versatile ballroom, and small gym. For a more modern spot with more restaurants within walking distance, check out the Aloft Tampa Downtown

Hilton Tampa Downtown
211 N Tampa St

The upper-middle-range Hilton Tampa Downtown is a contemporary, business-centered hotel with good leisure features. Amenities include a sleek pool deck with gas fire pits and a large bar, 24-hour gym, sophisticated but casual restaurant and lounge, and a full-service Starbucks connected to the lobby. The 520 rooms and suites have modern color palettes, Hilton Serenity beds, and MP3 docking stations. Nine meeting rooms, an executive lounge, two intimate spaces, and large, open business center area off the lobby round out the bulk of the business features. For a more creative atmosphere and riverside pool, check rates at the Aloft Tampa Downtown.

Tampa Marriott Water Street
700 S Florida Ave

Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marine is a three-and-a-half-pearl favorite among business travelers and tourists, thanks to its waterfront location and boat slip in downtown Tampa near the Amalie Arena and Tampa Convention Center. In 2017, renovations on all 719 rooms began, giving them a sophisticated nautical color palette, but some still look a bit bland. Room upgrades can include perks like waterfront view balconies, separate living areas, and/or Concierge Level freebies. The rooftop pool area, a Starbucks, and fitness center are popular features, while the 20 meeting rooms and business services like UPS shipping and printing services are helpful to corporate guests. There's also a sports bar, pool bar, and casual waterside restaurant. Expect to pay extra for Wi-Fi, breakfast, and parking. For a hipper alternative with trendier decor and lower rates, try the Aloft Tampa Downtown just up the street.

Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk Hotel
200 North Ashley Drive

This 293-room Sheraton isn’t exactly luxurious, but the outdoor pool and views of the Hillsborough River still make this hotel a good bargain in downtown Tampa. The hotel has a central location and free shuttle service, which makes for easy access to restaurants and downtown attractions. Those willing to pay for a more polished hotel should try the Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina, located three blocks down the river.
