Cotton Bay Village
Cas En Bas Road, near Rodney Bay, Cas En Bas, Caribbean

Quiet, sophisticated, and stylish, this luxury resort doesn't skimp on amenities -- it boasts a beautiful Olympic-size pool, an exceptional spa and fitness center, an extensive kids’ club, and a secluded beachfront with open-air restaurant and lounge. The resort’s 49 stately residences range from sizable one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom villas of impressive proportions -- each with a private balcony or terrace and a full kitchen. This is a great choice for families, given the spacious accommodations and many children's perks, but couples will feel relaxed here too, as it is not overrun with loud children.

Bay Gardens Marina Haven
PO Box RB2742, Rodney Bay, Gros Islet, Caribbean

Palm Haven Hotel is a plain, two-and-a-half-pearl property located in Rodney Bay. The hotel’s 35 rooms are bland and dated, although all have convenient mini-fridges and free Wi-Fi. Amenities include an outdoor pool, two meeting rooms, and a restaurant, however most common areas are crying out for a refresh. Low rates are the most compelling reason to stay here -- but even then, rates at Ginger Lily Hotel are often comparable and, unlike Palm Haven, Ginger Lily is right across from the beach.

Smugglers Cove Resort & Spa
Cap Estates, Cap Estate, Caribbean

Located on the northern part of St. Lucia on a private cove with brown-sugar sand, Smuggler's Cove is an all-inclusive budget-oriented resort in need of renovation. About 350 single-story attached rooms and suites are spread across the sprawling 45-acre property, offering glimpses of the ocean and gardens from outdoor terraces. Seven pools (two just for adults) keep families and couples occupied, while the crescent-shaped beach, crowded with worn lounge chairs, offers calm waters for water sports and swimming.

Coco Palm Resort
Rodney Bay, Caribbean

Coco Palm is an 83-room budget-oriented boutique hotel with style and service you'd expect at higher priced, beachfront hotels. It features a huge free-form pool, French Caribbean style decor, and the option to book with or without an all-inclusive plan. Rooms are cheerful and tropical, and some have terraces with pool access. While not on the ocean, it is a short walk to Reduit Beach and close to the amenities of Rodney Bay Village, St. Lucia's entertainment district.

Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa
PO Box 246, Beanfield, Vieux Fort, Caribbean

Like two resorts within a resort, the upper-middle-range all-inclusive Coconut Bay divides its 250 rooms in two sections: one for adults (Harmony) and one for families (Splash). Guests can spread out along a mile-long beach, as well as at five outdoor pools, while children tend to stick to CocoLand -- a water park with a lazy river and water slides -- and the top-notch kids club. Meanwhile, adults have access to a notable spa, modern fitness center, and tennis courts. Rooms have balconies and mini-fridges, and the all-inclusive package includes quality a la carte restaurants, premium liquors, and free transfers from the airport. Free Wi-Fi is available in the lobby only. Overall, this is a nicer and slightly pricer all-inclusive pick than either St. James's Club Morgan Bay or St. Lucian by Rex Resorts.

St. Lucian by Rex Resorts
Rodney Bay, Reduit Beach, Gros Islet, Caribbean

St. Lucian by Rex was one of the first major resort hotels to open on St. Lucia, unfortunately, it has not kept up with the times and is now in need of renovation. Despite its imperfectly polished image, the resort holds a prime beachfront location, an adequate pool area and beachfront restaurant, and all-inclusive rates that are half of what other nearby all-inclusive resorts (such as Sandals) charge.
