Libertel Canal Saint-Martin

The two-pearl Libertel Canal Saint-Martin is ideal for budget travelers who don't mind being far from the bustle of the city center. While there are trendy bars and restaurants nearby on the Canal, guests will have to hop on the (conveniently located) metro to reach the sights. The hotel serves a good buffet breakfast, for a fee, but there are few other features, just a vending machine, courtyard space without seating, and free Wi-Fi. The 69 rooms vary slightly in design but each has a flat-screen TV, air-conditioning, and coffee/tea facilities. Paris Comfort Rooms have balconies with panoramic city views. However, some guests may not feel comfortable with certain, somewhat dicey areas nearby. It may be worth considering the Campanile Paris 15 – Tour Eiffel, a similarly priced hotel that's closer to the city center and has a restaurant.

Hotel Acropole

On a huge boulevard that circles the periphery of the city, Hotel Acropole, at Paris' southern end, isn't near the major tourist sights but is within a block of the Porte d'Orleans metro station, putting most attractions within a 20-minute ride. While the 43-room hotel sits at one of Paris' busy entry points, a huge sidewalk helps to shelter the building from traffic noise, as do its double-glazed windows. The area has a lot of restaurants, shops, and cafes, and the modern rooms come with satellite TV and free Wi-Fi. Rates are much lower than at more centrally located hotels.

Hôtel du Louvre

Built in 1855, this beautiful building was originally the Louvre des Antiquaires, and in 1887 became France's first luxury hotel. The building itself features tall, thick columns and wrought-iron railings. Inside, the style is classically elegant, if a bit drab -- some renovations would make it feel a bit more vibrant. The rooms are actually quite bright, though, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows. The bathrooms are clean and modern with sharp lines; for Europe, the space is fairly big, and towel warmers in each are a comfy perk. The hotel features a restaurant, Le Louvre Brasserie Restaurant, which is a nice place to people-watch while dining outside. In the world of luxury hotels here, the Hotel du Louvre's main selling point is its location: across the street from the Louvre Museum, and right on Rue Saint Honore, close to cafes, restaurants, and designer shopping.

Hotel A La Villa Des Artistes

Nestled in central Paris between Gare Montparnasse and Jardin du Luxembourg, the 54-room Hotel A La Villa des Artistes is a three-pearl hotel with a stylish, artsy theme. With modern, neutral rooms that include comforts like en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, and flat-screen TVs, the hotel also features a small bar and a lovely garden terrace that's a great for morning coffee. Surrounded by Montparnasse restaurants, bars, and theaters, the hotel is ideal for visitors who don’t mind taking the metro to destinations like the Louvre and Musee d'Orsay, as walks to these sights can be long. Guests who want to stay closer to Notre Dame should compare rates and features with Hotel Albe Saint Michel, though the hotel has fewer public areas.

Hotel Le 123 Sebastopol - Astotel

The 63-room Le 123 Sebastopol - Astotel is a mid-range chain hotel that first opened its doors in 2013. It is located in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris and is spread over six floors. This contemporary hotel is designed around the theme of cinema, with each floor paying homage to a French artist and their work (including Ennio Morricone, Elsa Zylberstein, Agnès Jaoui & Jean-Pierre Bacri, Danièle Thompson, Claude Lelouch, and Jean-Paul Belmondo). There is a popcorn machine in the lobby, and in the basement next to the small fitness center, there is a small cinema that plays French films. The location is ideal for a tourist and business traveler; the 2nd arrondissement is home to the stock exchange and art galleries.

Hotel Soft

If the only thing you need from your Parisian hotel is somewhere safe and clean to rest, then Hotel Soft answers the call. This 31-room, three-pearl space has daily breakfast and cheerful, feminine rooms with floral wallpaper, pink and purple accents, and comfy beds, but even the largest room type is on the small side and wear is evident. Hotel Soft is located in the hip, Canal Saint-Martin neighborhood, brimming with restaurants and cute little galleries that offer a taste of local culture. It's an excellent value, but those who might prefer to stay in the 11th arrondissement should compare rates with the Standard Design Hotel or BLC Design Hotel.

Hôtel Le Pradey

This 28-room, upscale boutique hotel is in a prime 1st Arrondissement spot in central Paris, a block from the Tuileries Gardens and a six-minute walk from the Louvre. This hotel does urban chic with an artful, vintage twist, and each room comes with modern comforts such as minibar free Wi-Fi, and air-conditioning. Suites offer more room to spread out, though Authentic Rooms are unsurprisingly compact. The hotel offers two types of breakfast -- a continental option and a buffet with hot and cold options in the unique cellar -- though neither are included with bookings, and there is an honor bar and cozy library lounge above the lobby. Guests looking for an equally stylish hotel with an on-site bar may want to consider Hotel Lumen Paris Louvre.

Best Western Premier Faubourg 88

Best Western Premier Faubourg 88 is a 30-room, upper-middle-range boutique hotel located in Paris' 10th Arrondissement, in easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, bars, and the metro. Guest rooms are small -- in typical Parisian fashion -- but feature snappy black-and-white decor with boutique-y touches, such as the carpeting in a "QR Code" pattern and bathrooms lined in subway tile. Modern amenities like minibars, docking stations, and free Wi-Fi enhance their appeal. Features aren't extensive, but the hotel's reception area does lead directly into a small bar that doubles as a breakfast room, though the daily buffet costs and extra fee. Hotel des 3 Poussins is another nice boutique option with more playful decor, situated closer to the Rue de Martyrs.

Le Roch Hotel & Spa

Le Roch Hotel & Spa is an impressive entry into central Paris’s luxury boutique hotel scene. It opened in 2016 in the 1st Arrondissement, with a stylish look created by renowned interior designer Sarah Lavoine. Decor is dark and dramatic, with vibrant colors and sexy, dim lighting used throughout. The hotel's 37 guest rooms have high-end furniture and vibrant accents, and are equipped with minibars, espresso machines, retro bluetooth Marshall speakers, and marble bathrooms, some of which have saunas. Highlights include a full-service spa, a romantic candlelit pool and attached hammam, an upscale restaurant, a fitness center, and discerning concierge services, like personal shoppers. Design-savvy travelers looking to spend less can check out the nearby four-pearl Hotel Saint-Marc.

Hôtel Beaurepaire

The Republique Hotel is a two-pearl, 40-room property offering an affordable base for travelers looking to stay in central Paris. The hotel is a three-minute walk from the Place de la Republique, with its convenient public transport links. Rooms are modern and simply decorated, and include en-suite bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Some have French doors with small Juliet balconies, but keep in mind that there's no air-conditioning. A continental buffet breakfast is available (for a fee). Guests looking for a similar budget-friendly hotel with additions like a lounge and bar, might compare rates with the Hotel Aida Marais.
