The Ras Nungwi is a romantic upscale resort in a breathtaking setting on one of Zanzibar’s most beautiful beaches (though it’s not great for swimming). There are well-tended grounds, intimate, locally inspired interiors, and 33 charming rooms (though most lack TVs) -- the enormous Ocean Suite has a private pool. The open-air restaurant/bar serves exceptional meals, and the breakfast buffet is varied. All-inclusive packages are available. Facilities include a small pool, spa, reading lounge, games room, and tennis courts, but no gym. Note the free Wi-Fi can be slow, and doesn’t reach some rooms, and it’s a trek to the local village and beyond. The Dream of Zanzibar has similar features and rooms, so it's worth comparing rates.
