Hotel Continental
36 Rue Dar El Baroud

Built in the 1870s and brimming with traditional Moroccan architecture, the 56-room, mid-range Hotel Continental is one of the oldest hotels in the city. Some say it wears its age with charm, but the faded upholstery and chipped ornate tiling are starting to look derelict in some areas. Standard Rooms are especially in need of updates, with their stark walls, old furniture, and lack of air-conditioning. Bathrooms fare better, but there are limited hours for hot water. However,  Restaurant Andalou serves excellent Moroccan fare al fresco, and the hotel’s location at the entrance of the ancient city is exceptionally tourist-friendly. The included breakfast buffets are also impressive, along with the connected bazaar selling rich carpets and antiques. Nearby, La Tangerina also has Moorish-inspired character, but it looks much less run-down.

Majestic Hotel
57 Avenue Lalla Yacout, Quartier Liberté
Hotel Du Golf
Circuit De La Palmeraie BP 1488

The 315-room luxury Hotel du Golf is beautifully designed and decorated in an ultra-modern style, with a traditional Moroccan streak. There is a 27-hole golf course on the property in the Palmeraie, as well as a golf club with instruction available, although greens fees are not included in the room rate. The hotel hosts many large groups and conferences, which can make common areas and restaurants feel crowded and chaotic. Rooms are lovely, though, with a sleek design aesthetic, private balconies, and gorgeous bathrooms.

Hotel Marrakech le Semiramis
Semlalia BP 525, Route de Casablanca

An affordable hotel set on several manicured acres in Marrakech's new city, the mid-range Hotel Semiramis is a clean and comfortable place to stay with a surprisingly large range of facilities considering its price. The Medina is a 10-minute cab ride (or 40-minute walk) away, but the 182-room hotel has a pleasant outdoor pool with loungers spread across the grass, and there are five restaurants and bars to choose from, should guests wish to eat (or drink) in. There are also a kids' club, outdoor sports facilities such as tennis courts, a gym, a spa with a hammam, and nightly entertainment. Room decor is somewhat tired and dated, but most rooms have private balconies.
