The 338-room Evergreen Laurel Hotel is a business hotel situated in a suburb outside of Paris. Though the metro is only a short walk away, this mid-range luxury hotel will most likely not appeal to tourists as its location does not translate to reduced rates. Business travelers, however, will appreciate the hotel's quiet neighborhood as well as its proximity to businesses, the La Defense business district, and its spot on a square where there are several restaurants and a grocery store. Amenities are solid for a 4-pearl hotel: several meeting rooms, a fitness center with saunas, a business center, a bar, and a tasty Asian fusion restaurant. Rooms are spacious, with chain-like burgundy-and-gold decor highlighted by antique-looking lamps and mahogany furniture. They all have large flat-screen TVs, but Wi-Fi comes at an additional fee.

Demeure Loredana is a charming, boutique hotel, with 18 rooms and suites. Situated atop a hill near the port town of Saint Florent, it has fabulous sea views from the balconies and pool area. The guest rooms in this upscale property, which draws a few international celebrities, are spacious and lavishly decorated -- with decor sometimes veering into flashy -- and the luxurious bathrooms feature whirlpool tubs. A pricey breakfast is served on guest room balconies, but the hotel has no restaurant or bar. Another good hotel choice is U Palazzu Serenu, a 17th-century palace, which has with on-site restaurant and bar, but it's in the interior of the island and not on the sea.
