Our investigators visited the city's top hotels in person and took hundreds of honest photos to help you know what you're going to really get before you arrive -- and these were the most charming boutique options they encountered.
Although there are more luxurious hotels in Ho Chi Minh, stately Villa Sông Saigon is second to none in charm, elegance, and style. With beautiful French colonial architecture, top-notch service, gorgeous rooms, candlelit dinners by the river, and an exclusive vibe, this boutique is a wonderful pick for a romantic getaway. Its location across the river of central HCMC is secluded and tranquil, but a little out of the way for those who want to explore the sights; fortunately, the hotel offers a free shuttle bus to and from the city center.
Located on Thanh Da Island, the Saigon Domaine offers a luxurious, peaceful stay away from the hustle and bustle of central Ho Chi Minh. This property has 48 one- to four-bedroom apartments with full kitchens and an elegant mix of colonial and contemporary decor. Some kitchen appliances could use an update, but units all include DVD players, sound systems, flat-screen TVs, and washer/dryers. There are two average pools, a well-equipped fitness center, a kids’ club, and great freebies -- such as Wi-Fi and breakfast (served daily on a floating terrace on the river) -- but there is no full spa on-site. The hotel is a 15- to 20-minute drive from most major attractions, but there is free shuttle service daily to District 1.
Cat Huy Hotel is a solid budget option located right in the heart of the backpackers’ area, within walking distance of many major attractions. Its 10 rooms are spacious and feature great amenities for a hotel in this price range, including air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. There is little in the way of property features, but with ultra-low rates, clean rooms, and free breakfast, those looking for cheap, central accommodation in Ho Chi Minh may find this to be one of the best values around.
