Set on a white-sand beach overlooking Isla Mujeres, Excellence Playa Mujeres adults-only all-inclusive is a chic resort that offers extensive amenities. Excellence Playa Mujeres amenities include a luxe spa with a hydrotherapy circuit, seven swimming pools, and around 20 bars and restaurants (plus top-shelf liquor). The rooms here are attractive and have large bathrooms with whirlpool tubs. Some have swim-out pool access or their own private plunge pools.

Romance takes center stage at Beloved Playa Mujeres, an adults-only all-inclusive resort set on a white-sand beach a bit north of Cancun proper along Playa Mujeres. With just over 100 rooms, the scale here is more boutique-like than many of the neighboring all-inclusive resorts, but the facilities are nonetheless abundant. There’s a 35,000-square-foot spa with its own hydrotherapy circuit, three outdoor pools with food and drink service, and four a la carte restaurants (reservations not required). The rooms here are spacious and sleek, with private balconies and whirlpool tubs or plunge pools, and many have fantastic views over the sea.

Guests who don’t have swim-out pool access can pop down to the huge beachfront infinity pool, with its own massive swim-up bar. The fitness center here is impressively large and well-equipped and there are plenty of organized activities, from daytime foam parties to nighttime musical entertainment. And this Hyatt doesn’t skimp on food, with six restaurants offering everything from Mexican cuisine to teppanyaki.

Despite its location right in the oftentimes boisterous Hotel Zone, the adults-only Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun is quiet and sophisticated, with attractive grounds and rooms, many with views out over the Caribbean Sea. A large pool surrounded by greenery separates the resort form the white-sand beach and there’s a good mix of sunbeds and loungers for guests who want to rest. All-inclusive dining options are equally on point, with both buffet and a la carte restaurants offering casual and fine dining. While there is nighttime entertainment at Live Aqua Cancun, it's more sedate than at other Hotel Zone hotels.

The Iberostar Cancun Star Prestige is ideal for travelers wanting an all-inclusive adults-only experience while still having access to the Iberostar Cancun gym, spa, and other facilities. This is the newest part of the resort (completed in 2018) — and that shows. Rooms here are spacious and modern, and feature whirlpool hot tubs and balconies. Many look out over the sea. Exclusive Prestige facilities include a beach-facing infinity pool and a beach bar with an extensive drink menu, and guests here get full access to all the restaurants and bars at the main Iberostar Cancun property.

Outside of the raucous Hotel Zone, Haven Riviera Cancun is a quieter adults-only property that lives up to its name. The fresh rooms here all feature private balconies with either whirlpool tubs or swim-up pool access. If you're after a particularly exclusive getaway, the Haven Riviera Cancun Serenity Club adds special perks like a dedicated beach area and dedicated lounge access. The resort does have a nightclub, but it's lower key than those found farther up the coast. Our vote goes for lounging by the pool and on the beautiful beach with a cocktail then heading for Mediterranean or Pan-Asian dinners at one of the hotel's several dining options.
