Navutu Dreams Resort & Wellness Retreat
Angkor High School Road

Navutu Dreams Resort & Wellness Retreat is an upscale wellness retreat and secluded resort all rolled into one. Guest rooms are set around three enticing swimming pools, plus there's a gorgeous spa, yoga room, and a fitness room. The hotel's restaurant and bar offer local and Western fare, as well as vegetarian and macrobiotic menus. The 28 rooms are spacious and rustically chic, with modern amenities and private patios. The resort is not close to town, though rates include personal tuk-tuk drivers, so attractions like Pub Street and the Old Market are within a 10-minute drive. For an upscale option closer to town, travelers might want to check out the Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa, though rates will be higher.

Tara Angkor Hotel
Vithei Charles De Gaulle, Road to Angkor Wat

The Tara Angkor is a large hotel on the main road to the Angkor Temples, slightly out of Siem Reap's center. There are 206 rooms, all of which have modern Khmer decor along with standard modern amenities like flat-screen TVs with cable, safes, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. The large resort has a swimming pool, fitness center, spa, two restaurants, and a bar, and is close to the temples of Angkor Wat; it's also just a 15-minute drive from the airport. While there are large facilities and features, the rooms are a bit worn, and for the price range, one gets far classier digs at smaller boutique hotels like Pavillon d'Oriente. Tara Angkor, however, is a solid choice for those wanting numerous on-site facilities, and it's well-suited for groups.

Prince D'Angkor Hotel & Spa
Sivatha Blv, Mondul II, Svay Dangkom, Old French Quarter

The Prince D'Angkor Hotel & Spa is a four-pearl hotel that has 195 rooms and is only a 10-minute walk from Siem Reap's lively Pub Street. Rooms are mostly modern, with Khmer decor alongside features like large flat-screen TVs and spacious bathrooms. Lower category rooms are a bit tired, though, and show some wear. This is one of the larger hotels within an easy walk of the downtown area plus airport pickup, Wi-Fi, and breakfast are all free. The hotel has a nice swimming pool, a spa and fitness center, and a French hair salon. The nearby Hotel Somadevi Angkor Resort has slightly lower rates, though the facilities at Prince D'Angkor are a bit nicer.

The Siem Reap Hostel
7 Makara Street, cnr of Wat Bo Road and Angkor High School Road

The Siem Reap Hostel is a cheerful spot located just east of the river in central Siem Reap -- the Old Market and Pub Street are just over five minutes away on foot. Aimed at backpackers and budget travelers, there are 12 dorm rooms with bunk beds and lockers (some with en-suite bathrooms) plus eight Private Rooms. Al are spartan, but clean, and have air-conditioning. There's a swimming pool plus an inexpensive restaurant and bar, and even a small cinema screening films daily. Tours and transport can be arranged through the hostel and yoga classes are offered daily (for a fee). Overall, it's a great value, though budget travelers who prefer a traditional hotel rather than a hostel might want to check out the Mingalar Inn or the Tanei Boutique Villa.

Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra
26 Old August Site

The Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra is one of Cambodia's most luxurious hotels, a prominent 201-room high-rise that overlooks all of Phnom Penh and from its upper floors, the Mekong River. Rooms here are spacious with colonial-style decor, flat-screen TVs and DVD players, and bathrooms with both showers and separate tubs. The hotel has a wide array of ethnic cuisine restaurants, several bars, an in-house fitness center, a mammoth swimming pool, and access to an adjoining membership sports complex with a fitness center, swimming pool, and tennis courts. Additionally, the hotel has a Club Lounge, excellent business facilities, and is right next to the new AEON shopping mall, Phnom Penh's biggest. While it is slightly out of the historic central area, the hotel is a great luxury choice for its views and five-pearl facilities. In this price range, only Raffles Hotel Le Royal compares.

Memoire d' Angkor Boutique Hotel
#54 Sivatha Rd, Svay Dangkum Commune

The Memoire d' Angkor Boutique Hotel is a medium-sized property with 48 rooms set right in the heart of downtown Siem Reap. The hotel is on Sivatha Road, the main street, with hundreds of restaurants and shops nearby. It's also only a 15-minute drive to Angkor Wat and the airport. The rooms here have contemporary Khmer decor, plus modern amenities like flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, minibars, safe boxes, and electric hot water kettles -- but they don't have any views and some of the furnishings are a bit worn. The hotel has a small pool, fitness center, and spa, plus a lobby lounge and restaurant that has live traditional music and Apsara dance shows each evening. There is also a nice art gallery in the lobby which is used for a cocktail happy hour at night. The Memoire d' Angkor is in a great location and has enough features to keep guests happy, but compared to other boutique properties at similar prices (Siddharta, Golden Temple), it doesn't quite have the same shine, so it pays to compare rates before heading here.

The hotel has a lovely outdoor swimming pool surrounded by sala beds, and is serious about being a serene escape -- it has a sleepy patio restaurant under trees and a no-children policy. Families could consider The Kabiki, which has a kiddy pool and rooms with bunk beds, though is moderately more expensive.

Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa
Oum Chhay Street, Central Park

The Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa is one of the finest hotels in Siem Reap, and features a blend of colonial charm and modern luxury throughout its 129 rooms. The rooms and suites here are large and elegantly furnished, and all come with modern amenities. The swimming pool here is one of Siem Reap's largest and most impressive. Additionally, the hotel has excellent upscale dining choices, both French and Khmer, as well as a colonial style bar. From the cable elevators off of the lobby, to the antique Citroens parked out front, the old style charm here is superb. Additionally, the resort is just minutes from the town center and located just off the main road to Angkor Wat. If you can afford the price tag, it's a highly recommended stay, although it can be very crowded and some rooms have subpar views.

Belmond La Résidence d'Angkor
River Road

The Belmond La Residence d'Angkor is a small luxury resort with 62 rooms set along the Siem Reap River, just a short stroll from Pub Street and the Old Market area. The elegant resort has handsome teak and Buddhist art throughout, and rooms offer a sharp contemporary style with local accents. In-room amenities include DVD players, iPod docks, and flat-screen TVs, plus lovely balconies or patios. The resort has a garden swimming pool, an excellent spa, fitness center, and two excellent restaurants, along with an upstairs bar. An art gallery and traditional Apsara shows set this hotel apart from many in town, though the price tag is steep and can even exceed nearby luxury options like Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor.

Sokha Angkor Resort
National Road No 6, Sivatha Street Junction, 1km from Old Market and Pub Street

The Sokha Angkor Resort is one of Siem Reap's largest hotels, with 275 rooms and a wealth of facilities, including Japanese, Khmer-International, and buffet restaurants, an elegant bar and cafe, one of the city's largest swimming pools, a large fitness center, and a spa. The rooms here are extra spacious, and all but the standard Deluxe City View Rooms have great pool views. Rooms feature modern amenities and contemporary Khmer decor. The hotel is perfectly situated right on the national road in the middle of town, which marks the crossroads to the Angkor temples and downtown Pub Street and market area. Sokha is a solid choice for both business and leisure travelers, but prices are generally higher than those at properties like the Tara Angkor, and far more than stylish small boutique hotels like the Pavillon d'Oriente. The facilities are superb, but the hotel is very crowded and the rooms are not necessarily worth the extra expense.
